Our trip to HAI Heli-Expo 2019

HAI Heli-Expo 2019 – as usual, a fantastic event!

Now that we have left HAI Heli-Expo 2019, finally returned to base and enjoyed the weekend, we just wanted to take some time out to tell you about our trip!

The Conference

HAI Heli-Expo 2019 is one of the biggest events of the year for our industry – thanks to the 100s of education courses, over 700 exhibitors, over 18K industry professionals… And, straight from Matthew Zuccaro himself (President and CEO of HAI) a record-breaking number of hotel rooms booked for event attendees!

It was a busy week for me and my daughter Emma Louise, who began working for the company a little over half a year ago. The show itself was filled with the usual meetings and networking. As well as wandering around the exhibits to take in the huge array of services and products that make up the exciting world of helicopter aviation. We showcased a couple on our instagram feed (check it out @nigelwatsonlimited). Notably, we love the new Airbus H145 D3 with 5 fully-folding blades, ideal for yacht-based operations!

Like father, like daughter!

Emma began her first official HAI Heli-Expo by successfully completing HAI’s Helicopter Operators Management Course. You could say there is a little bit of footstep-following going on, as I myself completed this course over 12 years ago. In fact, Bill de Decker (from Conklin & de Decker)who taught me at the time, is still teaching the course now! A true industry expert, brilliant orator and interesting character – many thanks to him.

Our heartfelt thanks!

Spread over 2 enormous halls, there is simply too much of HAI Heli-Expo 2019 to cover in one post! However before we go, we’d just like to thank some of the movers and shakers that made our experience so enjoyable – they are all excellent at what they do, so look them up!

Dale at HeliLadder • Michael at Avion Power • Pat at Robinson Helicopters • William and Emmanuel at Aero Asset • Dave and Danny at AeroBrigham • Everyone at ACH • John and Sasha at Air Covers • Mathias and Cecile at Kopter • everyone at Peak • Matthew at Rugged Video • Ivor at Corporate Helicopters

Thanks also to the wonderful staff at the Westin Peachtree Plaza… especially the man outside who whistles the taxi. Wow!

See you next year!

We can’t wait for HAI Heli-Expo 2020! Remember to get your Mickey Mouse ears ready…
